Please bring any donated items to the Thalia Civic League First Responder cookout on September 15, 2025, beginning at 5:00pm at the New Life Church, 420 Thalia Road.
The Thalia Civic League is proud to support our neighborhood school through a School Supplies Drive for Thalia Elementary School. As families prepare for the upcoming academic year, many students face challenges accessing essential classroom materials. This drive helps ensure every child at Thalia Elementary starts the year ready to learn, regardless of their financial situation. We invite community members to donate new school supplies such as pencils, notebooks, crayons, folders, and backpacks. Together, we can invest in our children’s future and show our support for the dedicated educators shaping young minds right here in Thalia.

A Title I elementary school is a public school that receives federal funding under Title I, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) to support programs that help disadvantaged children meet state academic standards. The primary goal of Title I is to close the achievement gap between low-income students and their peers by providing additional academic support and learning opportunities.
In short, being a Title I school means Thalia Elementary is eligible for and likely receives extra resources to support student success, particularly for those who might otherwise face barriers to learning. It's a signal of the school’s commitment to equity and opportunity for all students.

Only on designated roads — Virginia Beach City Council can approve certain streets (posted signs required) for golf cart use, but they must have speed limits of 25 mph or less.
Lago Mar (and a few other areas like Chesapeake Beach, Heron Ridge Estates, Ashville Park) allow golf carts on all residential roads—including streets not otherwise designated—because local ordinances identify them as “exempt neighborhoods”.
Operation is allowed only between sunrise and sunset unless your cart is equipped with headlights, taillights, turn signals, and an S‑emblem. A slow-moving vehicle triangle emblem is legally required on the rear at all times.
You must be at least 16 years old and carry a valid driver's license to operate a golf cart on any public street.
We have reached out to City Officials to determine if the neighborhood can meet the criteria for Golf Cart approval.
